Tapping chuck with increased tension and compression to accommodate tapping cycles that are not synchronized. Tension and compression tapping styles are engineered to automatically compensate for machine feed, pitch and tap rates. They feature a spring design that allows the tap to float during the cutting cycle without affecting the pitch. Straight shanks are used for general purpose machining and commonly have a larger diameter than taper shanks.
