A Video Receiver is used to send video to your television and send audio to the decoder. The decoder sorts out different sound channels from the video signal and sends the information to amplifiers for each sound-channel output. Video receivers include their own amplifiers for powering the speakers. However, they provide optional outputs to external audio amplifiers if more speaker power is needed.
