The Dayton Audio LCR speaker bar is designed to deliver bookshelf speaker sound, in a compact speaker bar configuration. A significant advantage of the BS41, compared to its speaker bar competition, is bass extension which resembles a pair of 6-1/2" full-range drivers, not the space-saving woofers in the BS41. Your friends will be looking for the subwoofer when this compact speaker bar is used on its own without a sub. When used with a medium to high powered 100 watts per channel AV receiver, the Dayton Audio BS41 plays louder with better bass and overall sound quality than the proliferation of anemically powered speaker bars found at the "Big Box" stores. Installation is simple; simply plug in the left center and right front channel wires from the receiver to the left, center and right push button terminals on the BS41.
If used with a subwoofer, set both AV Receiver and Subwoofer Crossover to 80 Hz, this will blend nicely and maximize low distortion dynamic range. If no sub is used, the best compromise for bass extension and dynamic range is achieved with a 60 Hz receiver crossover setting. This will deliver all but the deepest bass, while maintaining room-filling, low distortion dynamic range and reliability.
