This item is used (in most cases) for a 4-wire (B&W) QwikBUS system where the customer wants to connect an external (non STR) camera onto the 4-wire bus. It is powered by the SP333 control unit. The camera must be powered by its own power supply.
The Alpha Communications® / S.T.R.™ KBS3-4 coax camera to digital video converter unit is used only with the S.T.R.™ 4-wire QwikBUS™ series video-intercom systems, when a customer wishes to use their own separate CCTV camera and camera power supply. The KBS3-4 is used to convert the video data signal from customer's camera's conventional NTSC coax signal, to a digital signal to be sent to the 4-wire QwikBUS™ video monitor(s).
The KBS3-4 gets its power from the TT33-2 speaker/microphone module and does not require a separate power supply. Each camera connected to the QwikBUS™ series video-intercom system, requires its own separate power supply (provided by the installer).
The coax camera to digital video converter unit(s) shall be Alpha Communications® / S.T.R.™ model KBS3-4, or approved equal. The KBS3-4 shall be built into a protective high impact ABS plastic case, for surface mounting. The KBS3-4 shall be powered by the TT33-2 speaker / microphone assembly, when not using a standard S.T.R.™ QwikBUS™, with the provided wiring harnesses.
One KBS3-4 shall be required for each customer provided camera that contractor will connect to the Alpha Communications® / S.T.R.™ 4-wire QwikBUS™ video-intercom system, other than a standard S.T.R.™ QwikBUS™ type.
Low voltage wiring shall be used. The KBS3-4 shall be mountable right to the surface of the wall or in a customer-supplied junction box cabinet.Contractor shall observe all local and national electrical and building codes.
