The primary airline connection is attached from the compressor to the Auto-Air TM Breather Box™. A reserve airline is attached to a single cylinder or bank of cylinders based on the required egress duration and number of workers using the system. The system should be tested prior to each use to ensure the proper function of the Auto-Air™ system.
What is an Auto-Air™ system?
If an IDLH work environment exists, the Auto-Air™ Breather Box™ option should be considered. TheAuto-Air™ filtration system was developed to provide Grade-D breathing air with full automatic reserveair in the event of either electrical failure or reduced pressure from the main air source while working inhazardous environments. Reserve air activation occurs at 60 psi and/or loss of electrical supply andthe system automatically switches to the reserve air cylinder(s). Local and optional remote alarmssignal the workers that the primary air system has failed and has switched to the backup air system. The Auto-Air™ feature is offered in electric or pneumatic versions. IDLH conditions require the useof a pressure-demand airline respirator worn by the worker with at least a 5-minute escape cylinder.
