Send data to GageMux gage interface or similar Digimatic input devices.Balances are used to determine the mass of an object. Scales are used to measure the weight of an object. Balances are usually considered to be more precise compared to results from scales. This FlashCable gage interface is designed to change the output on the Ohaus Scout Pro Portable Electronic Balance to a Digimatic format. The 9-pin male connector on this Advanced Systems & Designs FlashCable gage interface connects directly to the female connector on the Ohaus Scout Pro Portable Electronic Balance.
This FlashCable gage interface is designed to work with GageMux gage interface or comparable devices that recognize the Mitutoyo Digimatic signal. The FlashCable does not obtain any power from the gage. When connected to the GageMux, pin 9 of the 10-pin input port provides the power to the FlashCable gage interface. On devices other than the GageMux, pin 9 of the 10-pin connector must provide 5VDC power to the FlashCable gage interface.
When the FlashCable is properly connected the LED on the FlashCable turns a solid GREEN. The LED briefly flashes RED when the data is sent or a data request is triggered. A detailed operation manual is included with this FlashCable gage interface.
The Data Transfer Can Be Triggered Using Any Of The Following Methods:
- Using the PRINT button on the Ohaus Scout Pro Portable Electronic Balance
- Using an Industrial Footswitch on the GageMux USB or equivalent triggering method
- Using 300-1S in-line handswitch
- Using a Footswitch on the FlashCable (not included)
- Sending a gage read command from the computer to the gage
The Advanced Systems & Designs factory setting on the FlashCable gage interface is the same as the default RS232 settings on the Ohaus Scout Pro Electronic Balance. In order to insure proper communication, make sure both the Ohaus Scout Pro Electronic Balance and FlashCable gage interface are set to the same values. Refer to the Ohaus Scout Pro instruction manual for more information on external RS232 data communication. Six foot standard cable length.
