On January 1, 1975, two friends Bill Gates and Paul Allen read about the new Altair 8800 PC in Popular Electronics magazine. Within a month, they created a BASIC interpreter for it. It resulted in an agreement with MITS to distribute the interpreter as Altair BASIC.
