Features:
- 4.0 cubic foot CNC-cut cabinet made of 3/4" MDF panels with a 1-1/2" thick front baffle
- 18" driver with over 2" of total cone travel to move up to 6 liters of air
This particular cabinet is designed specifically for the Dayton Audio 18" Ultimax subwoofer, but works for any subwoofer with an overall diameter of 18-1/4" or less, and a cutout requirement of 16-3/4" or less. For optimum performance with the Ultimax 18" subwoofer, add four pounds of Acousta-Stuf polyfill for a Qtc of 0.707 and an f3 of 27 Hz. During the CNC manufacturing process, rabbets and dadoes are cut into the back panel for precise panel alignment. A unique two-piece brace adds superior rigidity without affecting the subwoofer's performance. Both side panels feature 3/4" rabbeted extensions with recesses to perfectly install the first piece of the two-part, double-thick baffle. Plate amplifier installation is made easy by following the scribed interior guide with a jig saw and by modifying one of the braces.
The UM18-22 plays clean, low, fast, and LOUD. Designed to excel in either sealed or vented enclosures, it features an ultra-powerful triple stack of high-grade ferrite ceramic magnets for ultra-high force and exceptional control, plus dual aluminum shorting rings above and below the magnetic gap for minimized inductance, "faster"-sounding bass response, and perfect magnetic symmetry. The voice coil diameter has been increased to 3 inches, for even more thermal dissipation area that allows the 18" model to withstand 1000 watts of punishing bass power continuously without thermal fatigue. Dual 2-ohm voice coils allow for stereo 2-ohm operation, or mono operation in 1-ohm or 4-ohm configurations, for true design flexibility.
The huge 18" Nomex honeycomb composite curved cone features woven fiberglass outer skins for the ultimate in rigidity and resistance to damage, while the "tall-boy" rubber surround with integral gasket supports extreme stroke with linearity and durability. Dual 8" spiders are mirror-imaged, to keep the 2" of excursion completely linear and provide cancellation of distortion due to compliance asymmetry, for ultra-low mechanical distortion even at the outer limits of travel. And it's all held in perfect alignment by a rigid cast aluminum 12-spoke frame, for stability in any mounting position.
Note: Speakers with a burned voice coil are not returnable for exchange, repair, or refund credit, as this is not covered by its warranty.
